Person Specification
Education & Experience
1. A formal qualification in a fitness / health discipline at minimum NVQ level 2.
2. Membership of the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at a minimum standard of level 2.
3. Experience of working in a gym is desirable.
4. Exercise to music qualification plus other sporting / fitness certificates is desirable.
5. Competence in computer use including Word and Excel is desirable.
6. Experience of working with customers on a one to one basis is desirable.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities.
7. Good knowledge of all aspects of health & fitness.
8. Ability to be enthusiastic, energetic, and motivated, caring about every customer.
9. Be a positive individual who enjoys interacting and communicating with customers to help and assist them to achieve their results.
10. Ability to coach customers on a one to one basis to assist in behavioural change.
11. Ability to provide inductions, assessments, personal exercise programmes and group workouts in the gym.
12. To proactively manage the gym customers to maximise usage and ensure that each person has regular programme reviews.
13. Ability to implement health and safety regulations and maintain the gyms and equipment in a clean, safe and operational condition at all times.
14. Ability to manage your time to maximise customer interactions and to work well under pressure.
15. Ability and willingness to deliver services in accordance with Aquaterra
Leisure’s Staff Code of Conduct and Equal Opportunities Policy.
16. Ability and willingness to work outside normal office hours as required; to alter
hours of work to meet the service needs; and to work at any of the sites

Job Description
Key Results
1. To ensure that more customers achieve their results.
2. To increase gym usage and improve retention.
3. To implement all Aquaterra’s policies and procedures within the gym.
Key Activities
1. To provide one to one appointments through our retention programme.
2. To conduct personal programmes for each customer every 14 workouts.
3. To teach tummy sessions within the gym ensuring that the advertised programme is adhered to.
4. To use the Connect application to interact with customers when not assigned another task.
5. To instruct members in the safe use of machines and free weights.
6. To assist with the operation of all facilities in the gym ensuring that they are clean and safe for public use and set up appropriately and on time.
7. Ensure maintenance problems are monitored and resolved.
8. To take part and assist the gym manager in the organisation of social events, motivational competitions, training and promotional activities including distribution of publicity material.
9. To provide personal training sessions in accordance with Aquaterra Leisure guidelines (Purple Trainers only).
10. Undertake any other duty and responsibility which may reasonably be delegated.
11. Ensure that all actions reflect the organisation's core values, strategies and policies.
12. To ensure that all activities undertaken comply with the relevant legislation particularly the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
13. At all times carrying out responsibilities and duties with due regard to our Equal Opportunity Employment Policy and Staff Code of Conduct.
14. To identify and communicate to the Section Head any future training and developmental needs.
15. To work the hours necessary to carry out the above objectives including irregular and unsocial hours as necessary.
